Red Shell Mgmt is pleased to announce that Collage Dance Collective, founded 14 years ago by Artistic Director Kevin Thomas (an alum of Dance Theatre of Harlem, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, and Cleveland Ballet) and Executive Director Marcellus Harper, will make its New York City debut at the Joyce Theater’s annual American Dance Platform, curated by Renae Williams Niles.  The dance festival’s dates are January 11 to 16, 2022—coinciding with the 2022 ISPA Congress and the 2022 APAP Conference.  Collage will share the bill with Cleo Parker Robinson Dance on the opening night on Tuesday, January 11 at 7:30 pm and the closing program on Sunday, January 16 at 2:00 pm.

A contemporary ballet company, based in Memphis, TN that tours in the USA and internationally, Collage Dance Collective is on the ascent.  In addition to their NYC debut, in June, 2022 Collage will be presented at The Kennedy Center Opera House as part of the Ballet Across America series.  Collage’s repertoire includes their own original versions of Swan Lake and Firebird (“Firebird meets Wakanda”) and an incredible community engagement initiative called The Rise Project—which uses the educational experience of ballet training to celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement.

The repertoire for the Joyce Theater program features Trilogy, choreographed by Kevin Iega Jeff and music by Bobby McFerrin, Cantus and Roberta Flack (a narrative work about the trauma of the American Black experience) and Saint Glory, choreographed by Amy Hall Garner with music by Madison’s Lively Stones, Mahalia Jackson, Aretha Franklin and Wynton Marsalis (an exuberant ballet tribute to the choreographer’s New Orleans Baptist and Roman Catholic religious roots).

Extremely discounted tickets are available for presenters.  Contact Edward Schoelwer, Red Shell Mgmt, by return email to learn the discount code or telephone him at (646) 495-1564.
